As a lifelong quadriplegic, I have struggled for many years with profound depression and suicidal ideation. Something I’ve found extremely helpful in coping when times are dark is music. A song entitled “Wasteland” by Royal & the Serpent was featured in season two of adult animation series, Arcane and although the context of its use in the show differs vastly from my real life, its lyrics almost perfectly convey the experience of feeling like I’d rather not be here anymore.
